The Mercedes-Benz 600 — the Großer Mercedes. Built for heads of state. Used for state visitors to Vienna. Now in the care of Kaiserlich Wien, available for the most singular of occasions.
The Mercedes-Benz 600 was produced from 1963 to 1981. In that time, fewer than 2,700 examples were built — each one hand-assembled over months at the Daimler-Benz works in Stuttgart, to an exacting standard that the world had simply never seen in a motor car. It transported John Lennon, Coco Chanel, Marshal Tito, Pope Paul VI, and heads of state from every corner of the world.
Our example — a 1971 long-wheelbase Pullman, chassis number W100 — was acquired in 2015 from a European state collection in which it had served with distinction. It arrived in Vienna in impeccable but well-used condition: the leather faded to the particular warmth of genuine age, the chrome retaining its character but asking for attention, the mechanical systems exactly as designed but requiring the hands of those who understood them.
Maximilian Schreiber — our master craftsman, trained at the Daimler-Benz classic vehicle centre in Stuttgart — spent two years in careful restoration. Not renovation. Restoration: every original component retained wherever possible, every surface returned to the condition of its first day without losing the patina of its years. The pneumatic windows, the power divider, the air suspension — all fully operational, all as their engineers intended.
The Großer Mercedes has since appeared at the Vienna Opera Ball and the Salzburg Festival. It has carried guests who understand what they are sitting in. It has attracted the attention — and the cameras — of every crowd it has passed through. There is, quite simply, nothing else like it available in Austria.
"You do not merely arrive in the Großer Mercedes. You arrive in history. The crowd feels it before the door opens."
— Maximilian Schreiber, Kaiserlich Wien

The Staatsoper on Opera Ball night. The Großer Mercedes at the kerb. Coach doors open. The crowd parts. There is no arrival in Vienna to equal this.
For those who want something truly, genuinely unique. No other couple in Vienna will arrive — or depart — in the same vehicle. One example. Your day.
The Großer Mercedes has an extraordinary screen presence. Productions, editorial shoots, and campaign photography — our team coordinates full access on request.
Transport to and from private galleries, auction previews, and collection viewings. Clients who collect objects of significance appreciate arriving in one.
The Großer Mercedes is maintained by specialist classic vehicle technicians and undergoes thorough preparation before every engagement. We always have a backup vehicle available should any unforeseen circumstance arise — your occasion will not be compromised.
As early as possible. We have only one example in the fleet, and it is frequently requested for Opera Ball dates, peak wedding season, and film shoots. Early reservation — particularly for fixed-date events — is strongly recommended.
Original 1970s Nappa leather, lovingly preserved. The pneumatic windows and power divider are fully operational. Burr walnut veneer, chrome fittings, and rear reading lamps are all in concours condition. It is, simply, unlike anything produced since.
Yes. The Großer Mercedes can travel beyond Vienna, though we recommend confirming all journey details at the time of booking. Longer journeys require advance planning with our specialist team to ensure preparation and logistics are fully considered.
There is only one. And it may already be reserved for your date. Contact us now to enquire — your occasion deserves this vehicle, and no other.
